Meetings

As many of you know, we changed our meeting policy as of the February meeting when we passed the changes to the bylaws. Rather than having a meeting every month, we now have only two mandatory meetings per year: one in January or February to hold the election of club officers and one in November or December to plan the calendar of events for the following year. In between, meetings will be on an "on demand" basis whenever some member feels a need for one.

This change was implemented because of the low turnout at the monthly meetings and the lack of interest in members to provide educational programs. Well, what do you know; as soon as the meetings became voluntary, people started coming out of the woodwork with ideas for them! At our last "regular" meeting in February, member Mark Jeghers gave a bang-up presentation on flying altimeters and interpreting the data which ran well past our supposed 9 PM cutoff.

April 18 Meeting - Rob Powers, "Regional III"

For April, Contest Director, Rob Powers, is calling our first "special" meeting as a contestant briefing for the "Regional III" contest that month. The meeting will be Thursday, April 18, 7:00 PM at our usual place (the public meeting room at the Livermore Police Station).

May 16 Meeting - Royce Longacre & his spectacular paint jobs

For May, board member Robert Taylor has drafted our resident finishing expert, Royce Longacre, to give a presentation to let us all in on the techniques he uses to get those spectacular paint jobs. Tentative date (still subject to change) is Thursday, May 16. Mark your calendar!

2) An Estes Alpha III modified for 24mm motors. Body tube wrapped with electrician's tape, unpainted balsa nose cone.
