WRAITH Boost Glider
By Tofer Pentacoff, LUNAR #777
Wing material = 4" x 1/8" balsa wood
Rear stabilizer material = 2 1/2" x 3/32" balsa wood
Vertical stabilizer material = 1 1/2" x 3/32" balsa wood
Main body = 1/4" x 1/2" basswood (or other strong wood)
CONSTRUCTION
1. Acquire or fabricate all of the required components. Use of epoxy is recommended.
2. Make a slightly tilted slit in the basswood body of the glider for the wings.
3. Glue the wings together first, and then slide and glue them into place on the glider.
4. Make a slit in the rear of the basswood body of the glider for the rear stabilizer.
5. Glue the rear stabilizer into place.
6. Glue the two vertical stabilizers in place; reinforcing the joint with balsa wood is recommended.
7. Glue the two launch lugs in their shown position and glue the plywood pieces to the nose of the glider.
8. Install a motor block into the BT-20 tube along with a plywood bulkhead.
9. Glue the tube to the body of the glider as shown.
10. Balance the glider by adding weights as necessary and friction fit the nose cone on.
RECOMMENDED ENGINES: B6-2 or C5-3 (Most engines should work, however)
When launching, the launch rod should be tilted slightly at an angle.
The engine should be ejected at apogee.
Warning! Using more powerful engines may shred the wings off the glider.
