Pipsqueak-2 Results
Originally scheduled for April 7 and postponed on account the field was imitating a marsh, Pipsqueak-2 was finally held on May 19.
Turnout for this contest was extremely low with only one contestant for most of the events. It wasn't until later, when it became known that any contest certified motor was usable in the Predicted Duration event, that two more rocketeers joined the contest.
Lee Teicheira arrived, ready to compete, with entries for all but the 1/4A Flex Wing Duration event. But, his Peanut Sport Scale model was too large (by his own admission) and he succeeded in having both his 1/4A SuperRoc Duration flights DQ'ed. Lee did get in a qualified Predicted Duration event with a flight of 17 seconds with a predicted flight time of 30 seconds.
With only Lee as a contestant it wasn't looking good. In an effort to get some more contestants it was announced that any contest certified motor was usable for the Predicted Duration event. This was not a change in the rules, but it seems everyone looked at the contest name, Pipsqueak, and assumed the only usable motors were 1/4As.
This announcement did the trick and Sal Gutto and Jason Barnes entered the Predicted Duration event. Jason achieved a 63 second flight using a F62, his predicted time was 103 seconds. Sal's flight stayed aloft for 77 seconds using a F32, his prediction was 70 seconds.
The results were:
