Just a short announcement that we have gotten approval from NAR for the NARCal I Competition. Until I get the full announcement squared away, here is what we have so far:

Contest Entry Fee: TBA (expected to be $5)

Contest Registration: A registration form will be available on the LUNAR website in the near future. Registration can be in advance or at the contest. (It would be nice to know who will be participating.)

Contestants will be required to participate as timers.

Back up date: December 20, 2003

Contest Director: Craig Saunders (crs@mtrad.com)

Details to be posted on the LUNAR website: www.lunar.org

Notes:

To receive NAR points, the competitors must be active members of NAR. (Bring your NAR membership card and/or NAR membership registration form.)

NARCal I is currently sanctioned by NAR as an "Open" competition, which requires at least 5 NAR member contestants and at least 25% of the contestants must not be affiliated with one section (LUNAR). If we do not meet those requirements, we will need to revert to a "Local" meet and drop one of the events.

You do NOT have to be a NAR member to participate.

We will be conducting an overview of NAR competition at the November 12th LUNAR meeting. We will go over everything that someone needs to know to participate. There will be models for the events on display and informational handouts.

I have a limited number of Rob Edmunds Boost Glider kits that I will be making available to contestants. Please stay tuned for more details.

NARCal II is tentatively planned for March 2004.
Events will include

  Helicopter
  Duration and SuperRoc.

NARCal III is tenatively planned for June 2004. This contest will primarily be an altitude competition, including attempts to set US Model Rocketry Performance Records.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
