Carbon Fiber Rocket

By Gary Vielbaum

This is a photo taken at Central Calif. Tripoli of my 4" 9.5 ft tall carbon fiber rocket I named Crap Shoot. This is a joint project with fellow Cent.Cal. member Richard King. Richard is supplying the motor (an EX full 'N') while I designed and built the vehicle, supplying all electronics and recovery hardware. We plan to launch this Sept. during the Balls launch at Black Rock. We are using a CO2 deployment system due to the expected high altitude. Electronics include a black sky ALT ACC2, G-Whiz 800 Deluxe, GPS Flight gps unit, Walston transmitter. We expect to reach 40k. The photo was it's first test flight using a K700. All went well and we are ready for Black Rock!
